Our client is a leading provider of cross border e-commerce facilitation software and services for several of the world’s largest financial institutions. The company offers seamless end-to-end shopping for consumers via the web. The company’s main challenge was presenting shoppers with a single landed cost price, and handles the logistics and customs clearance process. The company also needed to verify whether or not the products being bought were prohibited or restricted in the destination country.

Prior to 3CE adoption, our client maintained a database of products that were manually classified for only one trading relationship. Not only was this solution not appropriate in a retail environment where new products are constantly being introduced, it was also error-prone. As a consequence, the company could only provide an estimated landed cost for selected products, and was often forced to pay the difference when the duties were assessed by customs upon entry.

With 3CE, our client immediately expanded their services to more than 20 international markets. It now has the ability to provide international shoppers with a complete landed cost, including accurate rates of duty, taxes and other fees. It is also now able to identify prohibitions and restrictions before sales are completed. This has eliminated the embarassment and cost associated with shipments being refused at their destination. Finally, 3CE has effectively eliminated the problem of having to compensate customers for under quoting import duties.

By ensuring that customs duties and other admissibility data are timely and accurate, our client has gained both market share and profitability. Its mission to enable the sale of any product from anywhere to anywhere is now within reach.
